Drents Museum

Drents MuseumThe Drents Museum in Assen is home to an imposing collection of art and archaeological finds. Unfortunately, the museum is closed until the autumn of 2011 due to large-scale refurbishments.

However, once the museum opens its doors again you can enjoy a magnificent exhibition on the Chinese Tang dynasty. From then on, you can wander around this beautiful 19th-century building and the brand new exhibition wing for hours.

Museum De Buitenplaats

At Museum De Buitenplaats, you can enjoy figurative art... and more. The building itself, with its special organic shapes and striking geometric gardens is a feast for the eye. There's even an amphitheatre. Museum De Buitenplaats regularly organises concerts, dance shows and lectures.

Klompenmuseum Eelde

Clogs... it wasn't that long ago that the whole country wore them. That custom has nearly died out now, but at Klompenmuseum in Eelde those old times are relived. Here you will find the largest collection of clogs in the world - the museum has more than 2,000 pairs of clogs in all shapes and sizes, from home and abroad. The collection contains great masterpieces from then and now. A colourful experience.

Glasmuseum Veenhuizen

Glasmuseum VeenhuizenAt Glasmuseum Veenhuizen you learn about the incredibly important role of glass throughout the centuries. Following a fascinating walk along glass objects from foreign countries and days long gone by, you can enjoy modern glass art in the gallery. In his glass studio, glass artist Cees van Olst gives daily spectacular glass-blowing demonstrations.

Havezate Mensinghe

Havezathe MensingheHavezate Mensinge in Roden is one of the few authentically decorated manors in the Netherlands. If you enter this stately building now, you seem to be in a faraway past. You can take a look in the 15th-century kitchen, the wine cellar and the drawing rooms and upstairs rooms. Havezate Mensinge is surrounded by a magnificent country estate that just begs you to go for a walk..

Museumhuis Kunstpavilioen

kunstpaviljoenHedendaagse stijlkamers in het museumhuis Kunstpaviljoen in Nieuw-Roden voor vormgeving en kunst. Het echtpaar Kuiper-Tonnis de graaf wonen in hun passie; museumhuis Kunstpaviljoen. Een totaalwerk van architectuur, interieur, kunst en natuur. Geïnspireerd door het gedachten goed van mevrouw Kröller-Müller en het museum Insel Hombroich, creëerden zij hun museumhuis. Net zoals de ligging op het Drentse platteland is ook de collectie spectaculair. De collectie bestaat uit unica of prototypes van Nederlandse kunstenaars en vormgevers, o.a. Piet Hein Eek, Jurgen Bey, Studio Job en Maarten Baas.
