Court sports centre
Just outside the village, towards Steenbergen, you will find a court sports centre. This fairly new complex is suitable for international long track races and includes a grass track, a clay court, and a sand track.
Roden, the village of Ot & Sien
On the village green, Ot and Sien perkily stand side by side. They're in Roden for a reason: the stories of these two neighbourhood children were set here. And that was no coincidence, either: the author of the books, Mr Scheepstra, was born here. On the village green, you will also find the Scheepstra cabinet, where you can find more information about Ot and Sien and school days from the past.
Rodermarkt (Roder market)
Several times a year, the village green of Roden is also home to a fun fair. On the fourth Tuesday of September, the entire village is in a celebratory mood. That is the time when the Rodermarkt is held. Originally, this was a cattle and goods market, but due to the declining supply of cattle, an increasing emphasis has been put on the goods market in recent years. Besides the goods market, a number of fun events are organised, such as grass track races for motorcycles, a short-course steeplechase, and a beauty pageant. The highlight, however, is the Rodermarkt parade: a parade with wonderfully decorated wagons, graced by various orchestras. Each year, thousands of visitors from miles around come to witness this spectacle.
Apart from the Rodermarkt, however, the pleasant village is worth a visit, too. You can enjoy going shopping or visit one of the museums here.
